My second permanent studio is in mirrored room (former exercise room). In front of me, is my painting The Artist at Work. Just finished; it reflects my process of pondering hundreds of ideas and then the chosen idea. Exploding from the artists head, are names of dozen of complete and contemplated ideas to portray. Of course, the moment of commitment is the morning when I begin  painting the next idea. It may come from my notebooks, coalesce from several ideas, or spring anew and demand to be painted that morning. Whichever way, I am committed to paint until it is done. I may take months or days to complete. Behind me, reflected in the mirror, is an early stage of my painting A Religious Chameleon. I paint on unstretched canvas on three drafting tables at various angles of elevation. When I am painting words, my canvas must be flat because the paint has been thinned to a wash that will run. Words are painted with brush or dip style pen. The wash must be shaken regularly because paint settles.
